Football fan jailed after attack on Marston Group Enforcement Agent (bailiff)
Damien Park, 26, from Burnley has been jailed for 10 months following a vicious and unprovoked attack last October on a Marston Group Enforcement Agent.
Park who has a criminal record including robbery was reported to have run into his kitchen when the Agent called and returned brandishing a large knife. Waving it menacingly in front of the Agent's face, Park then punched the Agent with such force that his nose was "bent over". Police were called and Park was arrested.
Russ Holden, National Operations Director for Marston Group said "there was no excuse for Mr Parks behaviour. He had failed to pay his fine and as a result our Enforcement Agent was attempting to execute an order of the court. Our Agents have a difficult job to do and they have a right to do it without fear of assault. We hope that the jail sentence serves as a warning to other debtors who may be tempted to use force against one of our 380 Enforcement Agents and Officers across the country. We will support our staff and ensure that prosecution is pursued wherever appropriate."
