Marston introduces new learner response system

Marston Group (Marston) is pleased to have launched a revolutionary new learner response system within its City and Guilds training course, enhancing the way in which employees are trained.

The Genee Pads or 'G-Pads' allow Marston trainers to assess the effectiveness of training quickly and efficiently, through remote-controlled receiver sets. These receivers enable learners to register responses to questions during the course, the results of which are recorded, collated and displayed on screen immediately.

The results are displayed using Genee software ClassComm, embedded within a Microsoft Powerpoint presentation. This approach enables tutors to instantly identify any supplementary training needs as well as obtain post-training analysis, crucial in ensuring consistently high standards.

Russ Poulter, Marston's Group Audit & Compliance Director, commented: "The G-Pads and ClassComm software are proving hugely beneficial to our courses. We are able to assess which of our learners need additional guidance and coaching with the lesson at hand and are able to offer supplementary training as and when required. They are also proving popular with learners and overall feedback is very positive. This is a great step forward for Marston's training courses and demonstrates our drive for innovation."

Marston is currently in the process of implementing G-Pads across all of its internal courses, including induction training, information and security, equality and diversity, health and safety amongst others.

Marston now plans to introduce 'Virtual Handsets' which will enable training to be delivered with an interactive web-based application, accessible from anywhere in the world. Not only will this allow learners to attend courses remotely, thereby reducing the company's carbon footprint, it will also help Marston to meet training needs swiftly and on a much larger scale.
