Police make arrests in Sale Moor
Four people were arrested in Sale Moor as part of an intensive police crackdown on crime and disorder.
The arrests were part of Operation Bamboozle organised by the Sale Neighbourhood Policing Team. Of the arrests, one person was suspected of possessing cannabis and another person was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence.
The other two arrests were for suspicion of possessing controlled substances, with one person also suspected of handling stolen goods.
The Sale Neighbourhood Policing Team also seized three uninsured vehicles and issued 20 penalty notices. During the operation, 68 people were stopped and searched, 24 taxis had their details and licences checked and 2,350 passengers were checked on public transport around Sale Moor.
The Tactical Firearms Unit visited 11 homes of targeted offenders and Marston's Enforcement Agents visited 15 addresses for non-payment of fines. Four mounted officers, four dog patrols and a specialist drugs detection dog patrolled the area alongside Community Safety Patrols, Youth Services and PCSOs.
Inspector Laura Burgess, of the Sale Neighbourhood Police Team, said the public had been pleased to see the visible presence of the police officers.
"The message to criminals is a simple one, there is nowhere to hide and if you continue to offend in Sale you will be caught and brought to justice," she said.
Officers were briefed at Sale High School and Inspector Burgess thanked the staff for their cooperation.
